This is a 1975 XL 1000cc Iornhead Sporster rehab. This bike is a bare bones bobber with drag pipes and you can hear it comin' four blocks away. This bike is not exactly a beginners bike but if you're adventureous you will have a blast. It has no horn, no turn signals and no mirrors. The engine is stock, rebuilt from top to bottom and has a performance Zenith carburetor with thumbscrew main jet adjustment. The frame is stock with brackets and posts Tig welded to it to give it a streamline look. The rear fender is welded to the swingarm for a low profile look. Custom features include brand new tombstone taillight, headlight, 3"Chrome risers, 18" Ape Hanger handlebars, Barrel Style Chrome oil tank with easy twist on/off chrome oil filter and all brand new sheet metal with fatbob gas tank. Paint is by House of Kolor includes black primer, black basecoat and black topcoat with ten coats of clearcoat. Also includes real pinstriping. The paint work on this bike is flawless and extensive, as the engine, wheels, frame and sheetmetal have all been painted. It took quite a while for me to get this paint job complete and pictures do not do the bike justice. The 12volt electrical system has all new componets including coil, regulator, points condenser, solenoid e.t.c every single electrical component is brand new. The wiring runs outside the frame in case you want to add turnsignals or horn. If you have never turned a wrench you won't have to with this bike if you have you'll appreciate the craftsmanship. If you live in the Chicagoland area you must come and see this bike, it's as close to eye candy as I have gotten in a build so far. This bike is built for someone who is 6ft or taller if you are shorter than 6ft you will need to put shorter handlebars on the bike.
The inspiration for this bike came from the movie Mad Max. If you are familiar with the Black, Supercharged, Ford Falcon XB Coupe (The Interceptor) that Mad Max drove, well this bike was an attempt to build a motorcycle version of that car which is the embodiement of sex and violence. I don't know if I quite managed to pull it off but I gave it a shot and this is what I came up with.
